I love Monday. I always have. I like getting back into our routine after a busy weekend. I enjoy putting everything back in order. I pretty much love every Monday. But this Monday? The Monday was perfect.
My birth client called at 12 am to say her water had broken but she wasn’t in labor. I doubled checked that my bags were packed and ready and went back to sleep. She called again just before 6 am to let me know her contractions had started. Then at 7:29 I got the call that it was time head to the birth center.
This birth was at a birth center 45 minutes from my house. The day was sunny and I enjoyed the quiet drive soaking in the sun and blue sky. Things were well underway by the time I arrived and the baby was born half an hour later. Beautiful light was a streaming through the windows, filtered through soft, gauzy light.
Dreamy light any photographer could appreciate.
While I was there my sister-in-law who is visiting texted me to let me know she and her daughters wanted to cook dinner for us that night.
A birth after a full night’s sleep, a sunny day, and dinner cooked for me? I grabbed coffee for the drive home rode high on the Happy Birth Vibes.
Once home I uploaded my photos to the computer and waited for my sister-in-law to arrive. She suggested going for a walk so we headed to my favorite hiking trail. The weather was perfect. Warm and sunny but not stifling.
I love that I live somewhere where I can randomly see people paddleboarding with their dogs…
Warning: Don’t take this guy hiking with you.
Mordecai, Hezekiah, and Tucker we kind enough to make a seat for Elli so she didn’t have to walk…
At the very end of our hike, Hezekiah found a little friend.
A Monday morning with a beautiful (fast) birth after full night’s sleep.
A visit with my sister-in-law.
A hike in the sunshine.
Dinner prepared for me.
Yes, Monday was perfect.
