Twenty years ago today I gave birth to Adalia. She was 2 1/2 weeks early and weighed in at a petite six pounds. She was tiny and sleepy and the most beautiful baby on the face of the planet. I couldn’t believe that she was ours…half Chuck and half me. Her birth fulfilled my lifelong dream of become a mother.
I had big plans for this baby of ours: breastfeeding, co-sleeping, baby-wearing, homeschooling. She would barely wake up her first two weeks of life…then she would barely sleep. She was what we sometimes affectionately call a high-needs baby. She didn’t just need to be held she needed to be rocked, jiggled and entertained. Lying on a blanket on the floor? Nope, that wasn’t happening. When you held her, she always had to be facing out…she wanted to be in on the action.
Adalia grew and matured and became a became a beautiful young lady.
Now she is twenty. When I turned twenty I was just two months away from giving birth to her…
Happy birthday Adalia! We love and miss you heaps.
