I Am So Thankful I Have it All Together

posted in: Large Family | 21

Summer is in full swing and its moments like this that I am glad I have it all together in my life. Yup. In order to inspire you all, I decided I would share with you today:

Ways I am Thankful I Have it All Together:

* I am so thankful that I would never take a five year old to the doctor for his well-child visit with filthy feet. Filthy feet I didn’t notice until he removed his sandals.  I would never be caught in a situation where as soon as the nurse left  the room I popped my son on the counter and scrubbed his feet with water and paper towels. I am glad that would never happen to me because if it did my son might drip muddy water on the floor which I then would have to hastily mop up with more paper towels, all the while desperately praying the doctor didn’t walk in. I then might turn around and see he had climbed on the exam table and left muddy little footprints there as well. Nope, that would never happen to me, because I have it all together

* I would never, ever send a blank check (signed and everything) to the school district so Hezekiah could attend Math and Science Camp. Nope. That would be embarrassing and potentially disastrous. Nope, that would never happen to me, because I have it all together

* I am also glad to say that I would never, ever go to the grocery store with my carefully written super-efficent list and meal plan. I would never painstakingly select each item and cross them off my list, with a trail of children behind me. I would never get my cartful of itmes run up and then, then realize I have left my money at home. I also would never then leave my cart, drive all the way home to get my money, and then return to pick up my stinkin’ groceries.  Nope, that would never happen to me, because I have it all together. And it would be really embarrassing.

Whew, do I feel good after typing all of that. Remember, if you’re having a bad day, you can always be thankful you’re not me.

So glad to have someone join me in this very special club!

  2. Here, here! I am thankful I have it all together too. Otherwise I would never let children play with my wallet in the car only to find out they managed to lose my credit card (possibly thrown out of window?). Also, I would never take my husband’s credit card out of his wallet the next day (because I needed to do some shopping) only for said credit card to never, ever be seen again. Yes, you are reading it right, I would lose two credit cards on two separate occassion in two days – if I didn’t have it all together.

Oh my! 34 bonus points for you because me and Jubilee BOTH laughed out loud! I feel so much better!

I would never have my children show up for a sports camp that I forgot to sign them up for and then insist I had, have the instructors allow them in and then have to come back the next day (after having actually paid for it) and have to fess up that they were right all along.

LOL! Okay, you earned bonus points for that because I really did laugh out loud!

  4. I would never take two kids to a doctor’s appointment without underwear. Nope. Never.

  5. I would never, ever lose my car key, then borrow my husband’s car key and lose that too. All in the same day, away from home, in another state.
I would never, ever pack my entire family up to go to Seattle for back to back appointments to children’s with plans to stay in a hotel and go to the zoo in between and then get to the hotel and realize that I didn’t pack any clean underwear for myself.

I was luckier than you at the grocery store though because I realized that I had an envelope of Christmas money in another pocket in my purse, so I was able to spend my children’s Christmas present money on the groceries. And, yes, I did pay them back.

Using kids’ Christmas present money on groceries…Hey, how could they even complain, they eat the majority of the food!

Some days are just good days to go to bed extra early! 😉

I would never, ever add a school book to my Amazon cart, and then, while scanning my shelves to see what other books I should add before checking out, discover not one but TWO copies of the very book I had just added to my cart.

  8. I´m not a Mum but my husband and I have some of this all-together-moments: I would never forgot to give back the hotel key to the hotel – and find out half a day later. Thank God that it was in New Zealand and they were so cool about it and had a perfect and easy solution in 2 min. My husband would never try to open the door to the flat with the wrong key. Especially if it´s NOT our flat. Especially if the nice neighbour is at home, will open the door and he will never ever ask her “What are you doing in my flat?” Said neighbour will never say “Well, maybe you should try one floor above, it might work better there”
    We have it all together.

LOL! I am so glad your husband would never do that…because that sounds humiliating! Thanks for sharing.

  9. I haven’t done the grocery thing yet but when I was a nanny, I did that quite a few times. Fortunately I lived just a few minutes away. It IS embarrassing. Especially when you have your purse & are frantically searching for your wallet. I don’t worry about feet in sandals because they can’t help but get dirty. However, I’m always digging dirt out of my little guys nails. It’s a never ending task. It seems as soon as I get all the crude out from under them, he touches something & all his nails are filthy again.

It’s really embarrassing when you have half a dozen kids with you…And yes, the sandal were a bad idea that day…

  10. Oh yea, & I recently realized I bought the exact SAME book twice for my little guys first school year

I have also never gone into the bedroom of a crying toddler at night, *feel* that she was wet, strip her down in the dark, redress her and bring her to my bed, only to discover come daylight that that nighttime accident involved more than just pee….

    • bakersdozenandapolloxiv

Oh my goodness! That is priceless…or something.
