EverydayHappy for Everyday Day Life

posted in: Large Family | 36

Do you ever have bad days? Days where, say, you get up early to write an awesome blog post about your 21 Jumpstreet party but you lose it three times because your internet connection hates you?

Days when you take your four-year old to the dentist, but he is having nothing to do with a mask over his nose or foreign objects inserted in his mouth. Since it has always been a struggle to get food in his mouth, this is really no surprise. It is also no real surprise that regular flossing has only been accomplished these last six months or so. One of the ironies of being tube fed is, you can still get cavities. Even if you’ve never had food in your mouth.  And if your four-year old happens to have a difficult airway and needs to be referred down to Seattle…well, let’s just say it adds a bit of stress to you day.

{A note on teeth and genetics…our five adopted kids have beautiful, strong teeth. Fifty percent of our biological children have teeth issues. It’s no fun}

Do you every have days when you double book yourself, but you’re responsible citizen so you all and reschedule one of your appointments…only to realize you have now double booked yourself again. Two days in a row? And you feel too stupid to call and reschedule the rescheduled appointment? And really, these things should never happen because you have your awesome, beautiful, trendy Erin Condren planner. I mean, I didn’t think it was even possible to double book yourself with such an awesome planner…

I am a realist. And a minimalist. And an optimist. And a really-busy-forget-a-lot-ist. You know what I love? Getting a package in the mail that looks like this:

Ooh, what could it be? A new pair of Birkenstocks? Baby alpaca yarn? Camera gear? A housekeeper and maid? A swimming pool? A live in nanny???The possibilities are endless, am I right?

You have to understand, UPS delivers four big boxes a month right to my door…full of  tubes and syringes and high-fat formula. That’s not really what I would call “good mail” or “happy mail”. That’s more like Survival Mail. And the enteral service we use certainly doesn’t package it all pretty like this…So I was excited when this arrived.

Inside was this! ^^^The EverydayHappy Family Care Kit

Now, maybe you don’t find laundry soap, shampoo, lotion and soap exciting. But I do for several reasons.

1. No loading up kids, driving, stopping for coffee, When Apollo was a baby we had a diaper subscription. Man that was a lifesaver! I would never have a baby again without it. Having fresh diapers delivered to your door every month? Yes, please! EverdayHappy has offers a monthly diaper subscription (which we don’t need at the moment). A monthly clean sheet set and housekeeper? We could use that, but I don’t believe they have come out with that service just yet.

2. These have a very, very mild scent. I can’t even walk down the laundry soap aisle in a store without getting an instant headache. This started when I was about 11 or 12. The strong smells (even if they’re good smells) really get to me. Now if the laundry soap aisle were coffee scented…well, that would be a different story entirely.

3.  EverydayHappy products are hypoallergenic, biodegradable and use no harsh chemicals.

4. Avi loves to give me foot rubs. Especially if it means she gets to stay up past her bedtime.

There you go. Four reasons why I love EverydayHappy!

This EverydayHappy Family Care Kit is $34.95. I have been using this laundry soap for weeks and can tell you it is effective and leaves my laundry smelling fresh…not like I just walked out of the discount store’s perfume department after a group of 8-year-old girls had makeovers. The best part? I get to give an EverydayHappy Family Care Kit to one of you! All you have to do is balance on one foot under a full moon on an odd-numbered day while holding a fluffy kitten and taking a picture with a selfie stick!

Just kidding. Leave a comment here and you are entered. Easy-peasy.

And even if you don’t win, you can get your own FREE samples here. All you pay is shipping and handling.

  5. I’d love to give this a try, what a great idea! I’m in Canada, so not sure if the contest is valid for me.

  6. I would love a chance to win too!

  7. I too do not like strongly scented products and don’t like the smell from “regular” laundry detergents.

  8. Sarah E

I like the name! I just ordered a bundle from the Honest company, since James is seeming to be more sensitive. I’d totally try this too!

  9. Love this post! And love I scented anything for my allergy sensitivities. If I don’t win I will still love you.

  10. Elizabeth

This looks great! I’m all for not having to drag my 3 little kids to the store for pesky things like laundry detergent. 😉

  11. Ooooooh, I’d LOVE to try it! We’re working hard to cut down on toxins and exposures over here in South Bellingham!

  12. This sounds great – no running to the store for this stuff! I have similar issues with scents, so this is something I would love to try.

Renee, you cannot believe how disappointed I am with you. You’re (gasp) HUMAN! For years I’ve been reading your posts and have been amazed at how you handle your family, adopting three teen-agers from Africa, all the medical emergencies, running a home-based business, I just knew you were some super being from another planet. It’s encouraging to know you do have bad days. LOL.
If I were you, I’d be bald about now from tearing my hair out from frustration. ( or have a drinking problem). You and Chuck are great parents and both of you have one of the most important things to have as parents. A sense of humor.

  14. My daughter is allergic to most laundry soap. I’d love to try these!

  15. Dawn DG

I have a kiddo with sensitive skin so I am always on the lookout for these kind of things. I will check them out.

  16. Thanks for sharing!! Love to hear of new products!

  17. I also avoid scented detergents, so these look great!

Im a dental hygienist and my 3 year old recently had to be put under for (gasp) 9 cavities!!! I have flossed his teeth every single night since he was 1, brush them with a chidrens Sonicare toothbrush and have my own stash of professional fluoride varnish I apply once every other month. Sadly my husbands side of the family has horrible teeth and I guess my son (who is a stark copy of his dad) borrowed their genetics. My 2 year old on the other hand has pretty good teeth so far (knock on wood). I do the exact same tooth routine for both of them so I totally agree with you that genetics definitely plays a role.

  19. Darn! I just missed the full moon, my cat refuses to be held, and I broke my selfie stick last time I tried to balance on one foot.

Can I still be entered? Please, pretty please?

  20. Lindsey

Would love to try these, especially with our toddler and baby!

  21. Oh what fun…I’d love to try these!

  22. I hope I get to be EverydayHappy!

  24. Rebekah

    I’ll take the sheet changer, please. Ha ha – just the cool laundry soap. ( ;

  25. yes had to stop use fragrant laundry detergent for son and my husband migraines went away 🙂

  26. Carrie Gray

Just ordered the sample! Maybe I’ll win here!

  27. My mom had issues with strong scents too and I think because I grew up without them I have an aversion to them just because I don’t like it.

These would be cool to try!

  28. Beware. This was a huge disappointment. I ordered the trial kit without realizing I was automatically subscribing to monthly deliveries (which is my fault, I get that). The products were fine, but I didn’t think they were worth the price (I was interested in diapers rather than cleaning/body care), so I decided to not re-order. I was expecting to see an email notifying me about an upcoming shipment, to give you a chance to review/modify/cancel. Nothing. I only discovered that I’m a subscriber when I saw a charge on my card. I immediately went to my account page and did not see any shipping information there. So I emailed their support early in the morning, asking for cancelllation and full refund (since the items were not shipped). Nothing from them again. I called them after work, spoke to a rude representative, who lied to me by saying that they did send emails (I checked my junk folder – nothing) and that I will be charged a $19.95(!) re-stocking fee, because they had to “intercept” the order. Again, there was no shipping information on any kind on my account. Really dishonest people, not caring about their customers or reputation.

  29. Charlene Drummond

I would love to win, i have detergents that is harsh to my skin.

  30. Barbara Serna

    I would love to win!

  31. Stephanie K

Anything called “EverydayHappy” seems right up my alley. Right now, life is more like “EverydayChaos”.

  32. I’m always looking for a less scented detergent that works!
Let me know when the maid service hits because I will sign right the heck up!

  33. Oh YES! Bad days are so familiar to me, as is double booking myself, and Survival Mail. I have RA and my refrigerated medicine gets plopped down on my porch on a routine basis. I still haven’t gotten used to the fact that the big square box doesn’t hold anything fun, and it’s been coming for years!

I’d love to try the products and hope I win! Thanks for the chance that I might!

  34. no scent ??? Oh that would be wonderful.. i am with you and the soap aisle.. cannot walk down there either ! Sue
