A Morning with the Police

{Thank you to everyone who helped me win, yes WIN, the Circle of Moms Top Moms of Teens Blogger. It is an great honor. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a cash prize, but it does give me the opportunity to share my blog with more people and blog over on the Circle of Moms site.}

My friend Diane is friends with our local Deputy Chief of Police and every year she invites Officer Simon to give a talk about police work. My children really enjoy this time up close and personal with a police officer and I like that my children get a chance to interact with her.

As you can see, Officer Simon is pretty laid back and friendly. She is always happy to answer the children’s questions. It’ been fun to see my children’s questions mature over the years.

The kids love posing in the back of the police car!

Apollo thought he was pretty big stuff, posing on top of the cruiser.

When Apollo realized I was taking pictures of everyone, he ran over and stood like this in front of the car. It took me a moment to realize what he was doing- posing for me (fake smile and all)! He’s been doing this for the last couple of days…am I finally going to be able to get good pictures of him???

Aww….poor little guy.

Be sure and check out our visits with officer Simon from 2008 and 2010…especially 2010. You won’t believe some of the questions :)

  1. You know, I totally freaked out about “morning with police” till I scrolled down to see you meant for learning…not for reasons of trouble!!

  2. That’s so cool that you guys can do that. I would love to be able to do that, especially for my younger siblings’ sake. It would be good for them to learn to be comfortable with a person in uniform. Any memories my Liberian siblings would have of uniformed people (men) would probably be negative.

  3. Renee – It is always my pleasure to come out and spend time with kids and you are correct I always learn from them. Next year we’ll kick it up a notch and bring some of the equipment we use. Have a great summer!!
