The Hunger Games Party {Costumes}

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I’m no Hunger Games fan. But my children are, so when they started asking for a Hunger Games Party I was happy to oblige.

What’s a themed party without costumes?

Adalia dressed up as a citizen from the Capitol.

I think she pulled it off pretty well, what do you think?

The little kids, having neither read the book nor seen the movie, had to trust their siblings creativity when it came to costumes. Jubilee was a Capitol citizen.

Avi was Rue.

Tribute Tucker.

With Hezekiah’s current hairstyle, Haymitch Abernathy was the natural choice.

Enoch was head Gamemaker, Seneca Crane.

Tilly chose to be Katniss Everdeen.

Tilly couldn’t quite manage to stay serious for the photos…

Friend Devon came as Clove.

Judah was a Tribute from District 7.

Even Grandma got into the spirit of things, dressing up as Effie Trinket.

And Kalina, as Primrose Everdeen.

Coming up next: The Hunger Games Party {Food}.

  1. Wow! What is around Adalia’s eyes? It’s amazing. If someone drew that with an eyeliner I’m impressed. I don’t wear makeup either (except lippy if I’m interpreting in case I have a lipreader), but I must say, I love the art in the overdone Capitol citizen’s make-up. You guys have taken it off very well.

      • Wow. That’s amazing. I’ve never worn eyeliner, but if that were socially acceptable on the streets of Sydney I might be tempted!

  2. Daryl and I finally gave in and went to see The Hunger Games last night (we had two free movie tickets). I was surprised at how inspiring the lead role was, her acting was amazing. I had to come back here to show Daryl your costumes and they are, indeed, amazing. We especially like Prim, Haemish, and Seneca (I really liked the look of his beard in the movie and think it should come in style for men! LOL) Judah really looks like Katniss’s boy-friend who was not a tribute though! But Avi as Rue is adorable, but that part of the movie was traumatic for me…I’m such a cry baby at movies that I had tears pouring down for sweet Rue.

    • Yes…I believe the true theme to the books/movie is about overcoming oppression and how bad the totalitarian government is. Yes, we had a ball with the costumes. Amazing how much Hezekiah looked like Haymitch, wasn’t it?
